Mobilicom selected for communications component in Tactical Robotics flying car technology

  • Tactical Robotics’ Cormorant is an innovative, compact, vertical take-off and landing, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)
  • Mobilicom’s MCU-30 was selected as the communications component for the Cormorant
  • Successful mission representative demonstration recently completed

Mobilicom is pleased to announce it was recently selected as the communication component for Tactical Robotics Ltd’s (TRL) unmanned Cormorant cargo and casualty evacuation drone.

TRL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Urban Aeronautics Ltd (UA), was formed to focus on the development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) configurations based on a license from UA for the unmanned military and homeland security markets. TRL has taken the lead in the development of the ‘Cormorant’ – an advanced and patented vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV.

The Cormorant is a compact, single-engine aircraft that is innovative due to its minimal footprint, internal rotors and significant payload capacity that allows for the evacuation of two casualties at once as well as fast and flexible payload reconfiguration for other missions.

The Cormorant offers capabilities to first responders in routine, day-to-day operations as well as in the most challenging situations such as earthquakes, floods and nuclear, biological or chemical incidents. The ability to quickly deliver water, food and medical supplies directly to affected populations – no matter how challenging the terrain and accessibility – will save lives. The Cormorant will also be the platform for the flying car, CityHawk, that is being developed.

Tactical Robotics recently completed a successful first mission representative demonstration for one of its leading customers. The demonstration, a combination of cargo delivery and casualty evacuation, reflected Cormorant’s unique dual-role capability as the only UAS recognised by NATO.

The ability to use Cormorant in other day-to-day missions such as inspection of electric grids and bridges, agricultural spraying and with offshore oil platforms, makes it a cost-effective addition to commercial helicopter fleets.

“We are proud to take part of this innovative flying car project”, said Oren Elkayam, Mobilicom’s CEO. “Mobilicom’s Communication Units (MCUs) suit the Cormorant’s missions perfectly with a compact design and a secured and encrypted private network.”

Mobilicom executes successful proof of concept with Czech Republic police

  • Successful proof of concept (POC) field trial with police departments in Czech Republic
  • Mobilicom’s MCU-30 and MCU-200 units integrated shortly after releasing new MESH solution for underground operations
  • Mobilicom is negotiating a planned national deployment

12 June 2018 – Mobilicom is pleased to announce a successful proof of concept (POC) field trial with the Czech police departments.

In the field trial, Mobilicom’s MCU-30 and MCU-200 units were embedded into police vests and ground stations, allowing the system to demonstrate its ability to create a fully synchronised communication system that enables underground operations without the need for a GPS.

The trial used Mobilicom’s recently launched Mobile MESH Network Solution for underground operations, addressing one of the key challenges of the police forces worldwide: operating a fully synchronised system inside buildings and underground without a GPS.

The successful POC field trial in the Czech Republic demonstrated how security and rescue forces can effectively handle emergency events working inside buildings and underground using a light and compact unit in their vest.

This is the second POC field trial Mobilicom has executed in the Czech Republic this year with Mobilicom Communication Units (MCUs).

Mobilicom is now in negotiation with the system integrator for the Czech Republic police with a view to being engaged for a national deployment of MCUs.

Mobilicom’s CEO Oren Elkayam said: “With a successful second POC field trial, Mobilicom is now in a good position to win a national deployment in the Czech Republic and offer the local police a private and secured 4G Mobile MESH Network for all operations and applications”.

“We are proud to meet our customers’ advanced requests and needs, which reinforces Mobilicom’s position as a leading provider of Mobile Mesh communications technology.”

Mobilicom secures design win with fully-autonomous drone manufacturer Percepto

  • Mobilicom’s MCU-30 & SkyHopper PRO both fully integrated on Sparrow I drone platform
  • Global sales potential after successful proof of concept with Sparrow I in Europe and the US
  • SkyHopper’s tenth design win

29 May 2018 – Mobilicom is pleased to announce it has secured a new design win with fully autonomous drone manufacturer Percepto. The new design win will see Percepto integrate Mobilicom’s MCU-30 Lite & SkyHopper PRO solution into its Sparrow I platform.

This marks the tenth design win for SkyHopper and positions the company strongly for growing market share and revenues in the growing commercial and industrial drone sector.

Sparrow I is an autonomous drone designed for aerial monitoring of complex industrial centers and environments where security is imperative, such as oil and gas refineries, power plants, shipping ports and sea terminals. It is set up to be stationed on-site, in a ‘base unit’ where it lands, recharges, and transfers data it has acquired from its flights. The base also conducts maintenance checks on the functioning of the drone, verifying if repairs are needed. Its ease of use, long-range capabilities and an advanced base unit for maintenance purposes makes it suitable as an on-site solution. Sparrow I brings an easy way to increase efficiency, minimise unexpected downtime and reduce risks to personnel.

Percepto is working with leading US and European service providers and has already performed successful proof of concept (POC) in these territories. Percepto’s customers include Italian electricity and gas giant Enel, who has recently launched an on-site autonomous drone system.

Percepto’s CEO Dor Abuahsira said: “Equipping our Sparrow I drones with Mobilicom’s MCU & SkyHopper’s advanced communication solutions gives us the perfect combination of a secured solution with a wide range of operation which is essential to meet the needs of customers.”

Mobilicom’s CEO Oren Elkayam commented: “An on-site autonomous solution requires a robust communication like Mobilicom’s and SkyHopper’s solutions. They are an excellent example of how fully-autonomous drone manufacturers can benefit from a product that is easy to use while also having advanced capabilities.”

Mobilicom executes successful security and rescue proof of concept in Sri Lanka

  • Successful proof of concept (POC) field trial with local security and rescue teams
  • Mobilicom’s MCU-200 integrated into holistic mission management solution
  • Activity underway to promote the solution to other potential customers & nations

Mobilicom is pleased to announce it has executed a successful proof of concept (POC) field trial in Sri Lanka with local security and rescue forces.

Mobilicom was chosen by a local system integrator to the nation as the key solution for the field trial, with Mobilicom’s MCU-200 units installed on helicopters and ground stations, creating a Mobile MESH communication network between all forces.

The successful POC field trial also used augmented reality (AR) capabilities, providing the aerial and ground teams with a unified real-time situation awareness. This addresses one of the key challenges of situation awareness, being the communication between HQ, air and ground and the collection & sharing of unified real-time information.

Alongside the system integrator customer, Mobilicom is now able to offer this system solution and target high-volume project wins in numerous jurisdictions. Following this successful POC field trial, Mobilicom has already began promoting the solution in other countries.

The system solution provides an ability for security and rescue forces to handle emergency events and take critical decisions while observing the situation & covering large geographic areas. As such events involve multiple elements such as a situation room, mobile command post(s), helicopters, ground forces and ground or naval vehicles, Mobilicom’s flexible and mobile technology provides an ideal solution.

The solution has potential across first responders and disaster relief, police & firefighters, boarder control & surveillance, critical infrastructure surveillance & security and coast guard search & rescue applications.

“With the successful POC field trial Mobilicom is now able to offer customers and prospects a holistic system solution with its partner,” said Mobilicom’s CEO Oren Elkayam. “This has numerous potential applications and we are looking forward to marketing an offering that we feel meets a significant unmet need.”
